All kitchen and sporting knives, whether professional quality or inexpensive, need a blade tune-up now and then. This electric sharpener produces razor-sharp edges using the same rapidly rotating Sapphirite grinding wheels used by professional shops. A two-stage system allows knives to be ground and sharpened on the Stage 1 half of the machine, and then honed on the Stage 2 half. Blade guides hold the knife at the ideal sharpening angle for each side of the blade, as it is drawn slowly towards the user and kept parallel to the countertop. The sharpener is suitable for knives made of alloy, carbon, or stainless steel; it is perfectly normal for sparks to fly when knives of high carbon steel come in contact with the Sapphirite wheels. Non-electric serrated knives that are only serrated on one side can also be sharpened with this machine. Three suction cups on the bottom hold the sharpener securely on a table or countertop, and two receptacles underneath catch metal filings for disposal. I just got this last week, and I love it. I ran all my knives through it, except of course the serrated ones, and they are all as sharp as when I used to take them to the knife shop for sharpening. I even ran one of my cheap $4 knives through it and it's as good as new. My only disappointment is that I waited so long to buy this; I could have had it in my home instead of paying the guy at the mall to sharpen my knives.
One thing that surprised me, probably because I didn't read the product specs, is its size. It is approximately the size of a 5x7 picture frame and is about 3" tall. It's a little bigger than I thought it would be, but I am still glad I bought it.

I have a high dollar set of Wusthoff Trident kitchen knives that I was always scared to run through a mechanical sharpener. After wasting many hours and dollars on trying to manually sharpen these using wetstones, Lansky sharpeners, etc. I was never able to get the edge like original. About 2 minutes on each knife through this sharpener restored the blades to like new. The sharpener doesnt get hot enough to damage the blade, and I didnt have any issues with sparks. Some reviews I read earlier complained about the wheels stopping and not having enough power. This is by design to prevent damage to your blades. I never had an issue with the wheels stopping. You would have to be heavy handed and not read the instructions to have a problem with this item. I love it. Best investment I made for my high dollar knives. I use the knives every day, so I need them sharp. I will probably buy another one for later use at my vacation home. GREAT PRODUCT!!! PLEASED CUSTOMER!!!

Was a little leary about this product but upon receipt and reading the directions carefully as previous reviewers had specified I am so happy with everything about it. To whomever said the motor kept stopping - it's in the directions - you're putting too much pressure on the knife - let the product do it's job!! Highly recommend this sharpener.

The Presto Pro EverSharp works quite well. Because I have always "sort of" sharpened my knives, I was able to skip "Stage 1." For such a small sharpener, I am completely satisfied with how it sharpens and it is easy to store.

I have tried many sharpeners. This one results in a perfect cutting edge and is easy to use. It's by far the best I have ever had.
