Listening to my local jazz station, I'd often heard mention of Chris Botti but I didn't own a CD. Well, this is the first one I went to pick up...and wow was all I could say. If you are looking for smooth jazz that is truly smooth and warms your soul, then get A Thousand Kisses Deep. Chris Botti is an extremely talented musician that puts his all in every note that blares from that beautiful brass instrument! Thanks, Chris for wonderful music.

One of the best trumpet players living; on a par with Louis Armstrong. Not his best album but a keeper non the less.

I do enjoy this cd and even bought ITALIA by Chris Botti. Both are great!!!

I ordered Chris Botti's "A Thousand Kisses Deep" on one morning and later decided that I did not want it because of harsh criticism of the cd from a close friend. However, fortunately, when I e-mailed the seller of the cd to let him/her know I had changed my mind and wanted the order cancelled, it had already been shipped. THANK GOODNESS!!!
With a bit of trepidation, I placed the cd in the player I have in my office. I was immediately transfixed, and transported to another world with his sound. I could hardly wait to leave the office so that I could play the cd in my car. WOW!!! What can I say?! Every time I play the cd -no matter what track is playing - I hear something I did not hear previously. In the past, I have listened mostly to the jazz saxophone, but Chris Botti has made me poignantly aware of how sweet, sensual, mellow, pure, earthy, funky, haunting, soothing, mesmerizing, and I could go on, a trumpet can sound/be in his capable hands. The work is simply marvelous - beyond words. Now, I am on Amazon again to purchase another of his cd's! "Night Sessions" sellers - I am ready!
Buyers, you will enjoy this cd. I am so very happy I did not listen to my friend in time to cancel the order!!!
(Ordered "Night Sessions" this morning - and I can hardly wait for it to arrive! Even spent a little more for the expedited delivery service!)

Somebody who reviewed this highly, please help me understand.
When I got this CD, I was big-time looking forward to listening to The Look of Love. I was so disappointed when I listened to it that I have yet to listen to the rest of the CD, but, like I wrote, somebody please help me understand.
I will explain by contrasting this song with Botti's The Very Thought of You from his Italia. OK, Paula's Cole's vocals are far superior. They are smoother, more sultry. The accompanying music is VASTLY superior. Nice brush percussion. I can't explain it all. Just listen. The volume level of accompanying music is really on.
In contrast, The Look of Love. There is an incessant rap-like beat throughout the song with a strong base and a volume level that has got to be at least 4x the trumpet. This is considered "accompanying music?" This is compatibility? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
You have GOT to be kidding me. Maybe I am in the wrong business because I could have arranged this song much better than what is on the album. And I could have done it with my eyes closed.
Like I said, just listen to both songs and contrast. What a bastardization of a fine song. I am as disappointed in The Look of Love as I was psyched about The Very Thought of You.
