This set of three knives from R.H. Forschner by Victorinox makes an excellent gift for the home chef. The 4-inch paring knife adeptly manages most fruit and vegetable peeling, cutting, and garnishing; the 8-inch slicing knife carves the Thanksgiving turkey and other roasts; and the large 10-inch chef's knife tackles a multitude of kitchen chopping, mincing, and slicing tasks. The Fibrox blades are made in Germany and hand-finished in Switzerland. Providing a comfortable grip, the triple-rivet, ergonomic POM (plastic over molded) handles are curved in such a way so as to reduce wrist strain over long periods of use. While the knives are dishwasher-safe, Forschner recommends washing them by hand and covers them with a lifetime warranty against manufacturer's defects. --Ann Bieri

I can only say that these knives are fantastic. I also reviewed the bread knife made by Victorinox and gave it high marks as well. I did much research this time before purchasing a knife set and was not disappointed with this buy. Definitely a steal at this price.

I have been cooking now for about 40 years. (Can't believe it's been that long)... In all of these years I have yearned for a decent set of knives, but shuddered when I would see the prices. These knives are awesome! I am so pleased with their super sharp blades. With a little tender care, these knives will give me slicing pleasure (if there is such a thing) for the rest of my life. Do yourself a favor, get some decent knives! If you are on a budget and love to cook, these knives are the answer for you. A+++

I bought these as a gift for my husband who is our house chef, and he is over the moon. He loves the sharpness, the feel, and the weight. In preparing every meal, I hear him making positive comments about these knives. Highly recommended.

Would have liked a nicer storage box or sleeves for the blades, but the knives are wonderful.

The Chef's knife is great. 10 inches seemed unwieldly in theory, but is soooo useful in practice.
I use the slicing knife all the time. I used it for about 3 hours straight while breaking down 4 sides of venison and couldn't have asked for more.
The paring knife fits well in my hand and is nimble enough to section citrus precisely or peel an apple.
I love these knives. They have replaced a whole block of knives that we received as a wedding gift. Buy them already.
