These Sony's speakers use precision crossover assemblies to ensure blending while recreating a seamless sound stage. Today's high-resolution stereo and discrete surround formats can reproduce the same sound out of all speakers. If a variance in drivers, crossover, or materials occurs, the pitch and surround illusion can suffer. Sony speakers are designed using matching driver complements and crossovers to ensure even blending from left to right, front to rear.
The 7 satellite speakers (including the center-channel speaker) offer stylish, rounded backsides, and each uses a 3.25-inch woofer and a .5-inch tweeter, though the center speaker is oriented horizontally rather than vertically to allow unobtrusive placement atop your television.
The 8-inch subwoofer's Advanced SAW (Super Active Woofer) bass-reflex enclosure incorporates a slot-loaded port that minimizes cabinet size while providing high bass output. Subwoofer controls include a level knob and a bass-boost circuit for movies that simply cry out for more. The sub may be placed anywhere that's convenient for you; its low-frequency sounds are difficult for the ear to localize and thus appear to emanate from the appropriate smaller speakers.
All speakers are magnetically shielded to permit distortion-free placement near TVs or computer monitors. The system comes with all necessary speaker cable for most hookups, as well as an RCA subwoofer interconnect that plugs right into your AV receiver. Optional accessories include the WS-FV11D floor stands and WS-WV10D wall mounts.

I absolutely love it, and when bought with the "Sony STR-DE998 7.1 Channel Surround Sound Audio/Video Receiver" you'll be blown away. There are only a few products that currently support 7.1 surround sound, but when you get one that does, you'll be amazed. Even if you are just using 5.1 surround sound products, you'll feel like you are there (playing war games with this is so real that you might need diapers).

Small, yet powerful speakers for a room about 20'x30'. Any larger room may need larger speakers. The only bad thing is the $56+ shipping charges, yet you still save as Amazon sells them about $100 less than if you picked them up (50+ pounds) at your local store.

This product is outstanding. I cannot be any happier for the price and quality. I am a Sony fan and I recommend this product to anyone that is in a tight budget and looking for a great sound system. It is worth every dollar.

The 135 watt powered subwoofer makes this system rock!
I listened to many other brands and none of them came
close to sounding this good at this price. Don't waste
your money on a bigger name. Get one before they are all gone!

These speakers are well worth the money. Used the extra two speakers as a add on to the TV. Combined with the receiver they expand the surround experience.
Came shipped inside a larger box very well packaged by One Call. Fedex always takes care not to damage their packages. Unlike UPS or USPS.
Trash the wire provided and get some quality speaker wire. I agree with the other review posted, go to Home Depot. Monster cable is a waste of money.
Gripe: Already covered with the sub going into standby. Over all not significant enough to rate these lower.
